The Last Night

Tomorrow morning will be the last time I wake up and ride my bike (at least for the near future). Tomorrow morning Jimmy and I will decent this mountain valley where we are camped and ride to the Pacific Ocean.

As humans, we often get so caught up dreaming about the future that we forget to appreciate the present. I feel guiltly of doing this during the ride. So often I would get caught up thinking about finishing this ride that I would miss the beautiful scenery beside me. It's only when the end is within our grasp do we start to realize that we've let most of the moment pass by without notice.

As we are about to finish this ride, I hope to be deliberate with my final hours. I hope to push aside the thoughts of the warm shower I plan on taking, or the large meal I will eat in San Diego and truely appreciate were I am right now.

As I descend the mountain tomorrow I hope to let all my experiences and all that I've learned sink down deep.

I hope and pray that God has used this time to teach me things I only could have learned by biking across America.

Thanks for all you words of encouragement and prayers. My next note will be from San Diego.
