Day 10 - El Dorado, AR

Greetings everyone!

Today is day 10 of the ride, and so far Jimmy and Jon have biked over 850 miles in the past week and a half! Can you believe it?! I spoke with Jon earlier today and they are both doing well...a bit fatigued but that is to be expected with the mileage their muscles are experiencing along with the heat and humidity!

Tomorrow I am leaving Monument, CO (where Jon's parents reside) for Amarillo, TX where I will stay the night and then meet up with the guys in Paris, TX on Friday. I've made sure my car is stocked with cold, electrolyte filled beverages and a variety of candy bars from Costco (Jon informed me that these are their favorite things to consume when taking a break). Among the other snacks, camping gear, and backpacks loaded into my car, I also have a bottle of what I think will be my one of my favorite things on the trip: Febreze Sport Extreme Odor Eliminator! I discovered this on a last minute trip to Walmart earlier today. What a find, huh? I can't wait to try it out! ;)

Anyway, that's about it for now! I'm taking my computer with me on the road so hopefully it will make it a bit easier for the guys to update the site (iPhones are great but it's certainly not an easy task to type a long blog entry on the tiny keypad).

Thanks for reading and for all the prayers and support for Jon and Jimmy...stay tuned!

Lisa

1. Paris cyclists

Did I mention that Lance Armstrong used to bike around Paris as a boy?  His maternal grandparents lived here and his family would visit here sometimes in the summer.

I continue to brag on you guys to any person that will listen.  It has gotten bad.  The other day we were talking about work (boo!) and I interrupted and said my best friend and his buddy are biking across the country.  It was awkward because it had nothing to do with insurance pricing but I felt the need to put it in there because the conversation needed some excitement!

Jimmy- I just bought a vending machine in Ark.  Do you think it will fit on the bike?

Stay Strong Team MonStodd! I will eat a candy bar in your honor today!

3. Bon jour, y'all!

And we are waiting for you here in Paris, TX; the second largest Paris in the world!  We even have our own Eiffel Tower with a big red cowboy hat on top.  You'll have to see it when you get here.  My wife, Dana, is planning a sumptuous meal for Friday night so come hungry.  God bless and keep you as you make your way to the one Star State!  Pastor John Kelley

4. Adieu, y'all all!

It was great having the three of you here with us in Paris.  We're sorry Brittany wasn't with you all for this part of the trip.  Jimmy did NOT eat all the ice cream in the house, but he gave it a serious try.

:-)   Hope you rested well in your unique lodgings last night.  Now when you hear someone singing, "I love Paris in the springtime", you'll have a personal point of reference!  Hope you enjoy comparing notes with Peter Jenkins when you get home.  God bless you as your journey of a life time continues.  Pastor John and Dana Kelley
