Day 10 - El Dorado, AR

Greetings everyone!

Today is day 10 of the ride, and so far Jimmy and Jon have biked over 850 miles in the past week and a half! Can you believe it?! I spoke with Jon earlier today and they are both doing well...a bit fatigued but that is to be expected with the mileage their muscles are experiencing along with the heat and humidity!

Tomorrow I am leaving Monument, CO (where Jon's parents reside) for Amarillo, TX where I will stay the night and then meet up with the guys in Paris, TX on Friday. I've made sure my car is stocked with cold, electrolyte filled beverages and a variety of candy bars from Costco (Jon informed me that these are their favorite things to consume when taking a break). Among the other snacks, camping gear, and backpacks loaded into my car, I also have a bottle of what I think will be my one of my favorite things on the trip: Febreze Sport Extreme Odor Eliminator! I discovered this on a last minute trip to Walmart earlier today. What a find, huh? I can't wait to try it out! ;)

Anyway, that's about it for now! I'm taking my computer with me on the road so hopefully it will make it a bit easier for the guys to update the site (iPhones are great but it's certainly not an easy task to type a long blog entry on the tiny keypad).

Thanks for reading and for all the prayers and support for Jon and Jimmy...stay tuned!

Happy 28th Birthday Jonathan!

Happy Birthday to my love, Jonathan Reid Stoddard!

Today Jonathan is 28 years old! What a way to celebrate, biking across the country, huh?! Jon's sense of adventure was evident even as a child, and I've attached a photo of Jon on ski's at what I believe was 2 or 3 years of age! My prayers are with you, Jon and Jimmy...I hope you both have a great ride today and if you are able to, I hope that you eat a delicious meal to celebrate 28 years of life!  I can't wait to see you guys in Texas next week!! :)

Love, Lisa

Days 1, 2, 3, & 4 Photos

Hi Everyone! Jon emailed me these photos from his phone earlier today. The guys are currently in La Fayette, Alabama! Woo! Here are some fun facts about La Fayette:

-Named in honor of Marie-Joseph Paul Yves Roch Gilbert du Motier, Marquis de La Fayette (quite a name, huh?), a French aristocrat & military officer who made great contributions to the American Revolution. In fact, many other places in the US bear his name, or a semblance of his name (Lafayette College in PA & Fayetteville, NC to name a couple). See this link for more information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marquis_de_Lafayette

-Birthplace of heavywight boxing champion Joe Louis, or, "The Brown Bomber". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Louis

That's all for now! Thanks everyone for all of the words of encouragment...I know Jon and Jimmy appreciate it!

Day 1 - Reidsville, GA (Quick Update)

Hi Everyone! It's Lisa here. I just spoke with Jonathan and after 88 miles of cycling today, he and Jimmy arrived safely to their campsite in Reidsville, Georgia. Jon says they are by a pond and it's really pretty and not too hot. The guys will post an entry with more details later, but I figured since they are tired I'd give you all that brief bit of info! Thanks for all your continued prayers for the guys...stay tuned for more updates and photos!
