50% Recap in pictures (Texas and Beyond)

The last set of pictures from the trip, at last. Again, the girls did not start on the guy's trip until Texas so the following pictures are from Texas and beyond.

Here is the first slide show (once again) which took place in both Texas and New Mexico.

Here are the pics from New Mexico (Part II) and Arizona

Here are the pics from Califonia including the finish shots.

Texas & New Mexico in Pictures

Hi Y'all! Click HERE for a slideshow of pictures from our stint in Texas and New Mexico (as the blog title suggests :)

In the world of teeny tiny updates. . .we are 6 miles away from the California border tonight. . .whoop whoop! The guys are so very close to finishing and the three girls (Lisa, Ada and I) are SOOOOO very proud of our guys!!!!!

Hello Arizona!

Hey Y'all!

Just want to drop a quick line and say hello! Our Internet coverage in New Mexico was pretty sketchy, but Arizona is proving otherwise thus far. The guys crossed state lines into Arizona at the tailend on their ride this afternoon though we are camping right inside the border of New Mexico tonight. I drove thirty miles into AZ this evening and instantly remembered my 8 year old self see these incredible AZ mountains. Truly amazing! The guys are in for a great treat for tomorrow's ride with the views coupled with a more downhill ride which will be nice after 1000 feet of elevation chang today. Everyone is doing well including our 2 year Ada who has been first time camping at campings best. Hope to talk to you all again soon and have a ton more pictures!

PS I am grammatically and spelling challenged which can intensify while conversing via iPhone so please forgive :)

check it. . .

. . .the guys made it in the online El Dorado, Arkansas times. . .photo and all. Click HERE

In another bit of random news. . .I just realized that Texarkana has such a name since half of the town is in Texas and the other in Arkansas. Who would have thought?!? Doi!

Also, the guys have been right on schedule until today. They are now ahead of the preplanned route making today their longest day yet! whoop whoop!

k, that's all I got for now!

Day 2- Hawkinsville, Ga

Hey Y'all! Brittany here (Jimmy's wife). Jon and Lisa have done so well documenting the journey thus far! I thought today would be a good chance to hop on here and represent for the Moncriefs.

2 days down, 27 days to go

The guys did great yesterday, but today was even better. They took a little bit different approach. Instead of hammering down for 4 hours straight at a time they did 20ish mile increments, but I will start from the beginning. Got an earlier start. Out of campsite by 8pm. After an 8 hour night sleep Jon and Jimmy were ready to go. Some noteworthy thoughts:

Vidalia, Georgia does in fact smell like onions...through and through

Met their first fellow cyclist. It was raining pretty good so Jimmy did not have his glasses on. He first thought it was a golf cart, then a stage coach and as he drew closer it was in fact neither of the two, but instead a beach cruiser with a lawn mowing trailer attached, accompanied by the man's dog, a 1984 boom box and a sign saying "Headed to Ohio".

Did a little more mileage than expected with some completely sandy back roads leaving the guys sinking and a quick fall by Jimmy (funny not catastrophic). 99.5 miles instead of 92, but still right on track.

You will be happy to know that Hawkinsville, GA is the Horse Buggy Capital of the World. . .a place you only visit if you have an infatuation with Horse Buggies or in this case are biking across America.

today's ride was for Aaron Cabeen of Cabeen Originals.....
